В малайзийском штате Саравак произошло страшное происшествие: крокодил attacked and consumed a 6-year-old girl named Cici Intik while she was swimming in the river with her grandfather and friends. The incident occurred so quickly that the grandfather couldn’t intervene, reports AsiaOne.
The child’s uncle, who witnessed the attack, described it as follows: «I saw the crocodile grab Cici from where she was playing near the water. It happened very fast.»
Rescuers arrived at the scene within nine minutes of the incident but by then the crocodile had either fled or submerged with the girl. The search efforts were immediately joined by Cici’s family members and law enforcement officials.
The Borneo Post reports that the rescue operation has been ongoing for five days now, during which time rescuers have combed the area within a 2-kilometer radius of the incident site but so far, there are no signs of the child or the crocodile.
